The expansion of the Frigate Bay Beach Hotel in St Kitts will include the addition of 12 new rooms when it reopens in January 2015.
The property, which closed Nov. 1 to begin its renovation, would have 76 rooms upon completion, according to a spokesman.
The Frigate Bay Beach Hotel is one of several properties on the island currently being refurbished.
Earlier this year, the Ocean Terrace Inn received a $5 million loan from St Kitts’ Sugar Industry Diversification Foundation to upgrade what is the twin-island federation’s oldest boutique hotel.
St Kitts and Nevis Tourism Minister Ricky Skerritt has said the country needs to increase its hotel stock.
