Dutch Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans continued his Caribbean tour with a visit to St Maarten last week and a meeting with Prime Minister Sarah Wescot Williams.

Timmermans, who has visited Aruba, Curacao and St Maarten on the trip, discussed the foreign policy of the Kingdom.

“It is a huge advantage for all four countries that we have in our kingdom Caribbean countries, in a region where a huge economic growth takes place with countries such as Brazil, Colombia and Panama,” Timmermans said.

Earlier this week, the Netherlands, Aruba, Curacao and St Maarten signed a cooperation agreement with Venezuela.

Wescot and Timmermans also discussed political developments in the region, along with cooperation between St Maarten and its French neighbour, St Martin.

Timmermans also met with St Maarten Governor Eugene Holiday on the trip, among other officials.
