Haiti President Michel Martelly arrived in Tokyo Wednesday, leading a delegation to Japan including First Lady Sophia Martelly and several Cabinet Ministers.
The visit began with a dinner and reception in his honour by the Embassy of Haiti in Tokyo, with several Japanese parliamentarians in attendance.
It is reportedly the first visit to Japan by a sitting Haitian president.
“I am here to enhance and facilitate trade with Japan,” Martelly told the reception. “I also want to understand Japan’s expansion, and to share with you and invite you to invest in my country.”
