Brazil’s new Ambassador to Antigua and Barbuda, Raul Campos e Castro, presented his letters of credence yesterday, making him the second resident Ambassador of Brazil in the country.

Castro also met with Prime Minister Baldwin Spencer, who emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation between Brazil and the Caribbean region.

In particular, Spencer mentioned the possibility of establishing a language facility in Antigua to help citizens learn Spanish and Portuguese, and the potential for tourism linkages between the two countries.

Brazil and Antigua formally established diplomatic relations in 1982; Brazil opened its first embassy in St John’s in 2009, headed initially by Ambassador Brian Michael Fraser Neele.
