Jamaican Foreign Minister Dr Kenneth Baugh held talks yesterday with Nigerian Foreign Minister Olugbenga Adeyemi Ashiru in New Kingston’s Courtleigh Hotel.

The two officials discussed a range of issues, including energy security, air services, the upcoming African Union Diaspora Conference in 2012 and cultural cooperation and increased tourism between the countries.

Also on hand was Mining and Energy Minister Clive Mullings, who advised the Nigerian team that Jamaica had requested bids for Liquefied Natural Gas, with opportunities available for Nigerian investment.

Ashiru, a career diplomat, was named foreign minister in July by President Goodluck Jonathan, having served previously as the countries High Commissioner to South Africa.
