Bahamas Telecom Extends Cable to Haiti

Bahamas Telecom Company will be extending its U.S.-Caribbean cable to improve connectivity in Haiti. “We are going to make a significant investment into expanding the capacity of the Miami cable,” said BTC CEO Geoff Houston in a statement. “We’re looking at expanding the capacity of the Haiti cable. We expect to do both of these this year and that will provide new sources of revenue opportunity for the company.” BTC, which recently saw British firm Cable and Wireless Communications purchase a majority stake in the company, could use a better cable to connect to its global carrier services.
