Bahamas’ Turnquest: More Cooperation Needed to Fight Transnational Crime

Bahamas Minister of National Security Tommy Turnquest called for renewed cooperation in the international war on drug crime at the first meeting of the Technical Working Group on Maritime and Aerial Domain Awareness Security Cooperation. The meeting was part of a Caribbean Basin Security Initiative aimed at fighting transnational crime, including trafficking of arms and narcotics. “Regional and international cooperation is a guiding principle of the Government of the Bahamas’ anti-crime agenda [and] in this regard, we have collaborated with regional and international partners to design, implement and monitor strategies to stem transnational crimes,” he said.
