Carlson Rezidor is continuing its expansion of the Radisson Blu brand with a new location at Lake Chapala, Ajijic, Mexico.

The hotel group announced the signing of an agreement with real estate and investment firm Sun-Star group, led by real estate developers Omar O’Rourke Martinez and Thomas Wahl, for the development and operation of Radisson Blu Hotel & Resort Ajijic.

“We are seeing some tremendous momentum for our Radisson Blu brand in Latin America after recently opening our first two hotels in Brazil and another opening soon in Santiago, Chile,” said Javier Rosenberg, chief operating officer, Americas, Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group. “The addition of this hotel in Mexico further strengthens the brand’s global presence of nearly 400 hotels in operation and under development.”

Construction of the 96-room hotel is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2016.

Lake Chapala is a popular destination located within 50 kilometers of Guadalajara, Mexico’s second largest city, and located within 25 minutes of the city’s international airport.

It is also just 25 minutes away from El Salto, an important industrial corridor and home to the Mexican and Latin American headquarters for many multinational corporations.
