It’s the first of its kind in the Dominican Republic’s capital of Santo Domingo: a hotel-museum.
The redesigned Hotel Beaterio is the latest addition to one of the gems of the Caribbean’s cultural offering, the Colonial Zone of Santo Domingo.
The hotel has reopened following a major renovation project, offering guests the chance to stay in a converted 16th-century convent.
The 11-room El Beaterio explores a rich history in the area, including former residents of the convent like Sor Leonor de Ovando and Doña Elvira de Mendoza, the first poets of the New World.
