Grenada Readies for Major New Music Festival

By: Caribbean Journal Staff - April 1, 2016

Grenada is set for a major new music festival.

The first-ever Pure Grenada Music Festival will begin April 5.

The six-day festival will include eight concerts at five different locations across 32 acts.

Grammy winners Joss Stone and Estelle will be on hand, joined by world music superstar Angelique Kidjo, reggae legends Steel Pulse, eight-time Calypso Monarch Ajamu, Reggae Princess Etana and the Jab Jab King Tallpree.

“The Grenada Tourism Authority has been quite involved in the steering committee since its commencement in June 2014 and is now a proud sponsor of the festival. We see the great destination marketing potential through this music niche,” said Delysia De Coteau, Marketing Executive at the GTA.

This year’s festival will also be green, with organizers encouraging vendors to use renewable and compostable materials rather than plastic containers.
