More flights out of Buffalo

By the Caribbean Journal staff

In a bid in part to ease travel for many Toronto-area travelers, Canadian travel giant Sunwing is offering flights out of Buffalo International Airport for a second winter season this year.

The company will again offer weekly, direct flights from Buffalo to Caribbean destinations including Cancun and Punta Cana.

The new flight program will launch Jan. 16, 2016.

“We were extremely pleased to have the opportunity to offer Sunwing flights from Buffalo for the first time last year,” said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations for Sunwing Vacations. “These were the first international flights to be offered from here since 2001 and we were delighted with how well the service was received by customers on both sides of the border. Punta Cana and Cancun are consistently two of our most popular vacation hotspots. We’re certain that our second season will be just as successful as the first.”

In a statement, Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority Executive Director Kimberley Minkelsaid the organization was “extremely delighted that Sunwing will once again be offering their nonstop international flights to exotic Cancun and Punta Cana in 2016.”
