Royal Caribbean’s Quantum of the Seas Makes Official Debut

Royal Caribbean’s brand-new Quantum of the Seas is officially open for business.

The ship made its maiden voyage from England to the United States last week, followed by an initial sailing out of Cape Liberty Cruise Terminal in Bayonne, New Jersey this past weekend.

The ship is seen as a potential game-changer for the industry, with an emphasis on cutting-edge technology with everything from virtual balconies to robotic bartenders.

The ship accommodates 4,180 guests and 1,500 crew, with new amenities for the industry, from bumper cars and skydiving simulations to the “North Star,” a capsule that ascends more than 300 feet above sea level.

The ship is tied for the third-largest cruise ship in the world.

Quantum makes its first international sailing with an eight-night Bahamas cruise out of Cape Liberty beginning Nov. 23.
