New United States Ambassador to Belize Carlos Moreno presented his credentials to Governor General Sir Colville Young on Tuesday.
Moreno expressed his desire to work with the government on “matters of mutual interest, issues relating to youth, culture education, health and commerce.”
He said there was “great potential” for continuing strong relations between the two countries.
Belize’s Governor General said he was particularly interested in building relations as it relates to “youth.”
Moreno is a former Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court.
He was appointed as the US’ new envoy to Belize by President Barack Obama last year, an appointment which was confirmed by the Senate last month.
Moreno succeeds former Ambassador Vinai Thummalapally.
