The Magdalena Grand in Tobago has been renamed the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort, following a move by operator efm Hospitality Solutions to take over management of the nearby 18-hole Tobago Plantations Golf Course.

The golf course will officially reopen with that name on Dec. 1, following a refurbishment with an initial cost of $2 million.

“Adding the Tobago Plantations Golf Course to the Magdalena Grand portfolio has been part of our overall strategic plan to provide our guests with an optimal vacation experience in Tobago,” said John Murphy, principal at efm Hospitality Solutions, which operates the Magdalena Grand Beach & Golf Resort.  “With the enhancements we are making, we look to attract golf enthusiasts from around the world as well as PGA tournaments and corporate events.”

The 18-hole, Par-72 course first opened in Tobago in 2001. The course upgrades are aimed at meeting Golf Course Superintendents Association of America standards.
