The government of Montserrat is continuing its distribution of Apple iPads to middle and senior managers as part of its stated plan for a “reduced paper environment.”

Last year, Montserrat distributed 25 iPads for legislators and members of the Core Management Team. At the end of last month, 50 iPad 4s were distributed to managers and directors.

The government said that, while the tablets would be primarily for government use, they are “very personal instruments and so will be the property of each employee.”

The devices were delivered to the civil servants on a repayment plan of up to 12 months.

The government said that it was providing the initial seed financing, and will be providing training for their use.
