Haitian President Michel Martelly said he has been staying in “constant contact” with members of his cabinet and government officials while he in Miami following a pulmonary embolism, the National Palace announced.

Martelly has undergone tests with what the Palace characterized as “positive” outcomes and completed them “to the complete satisfaction” of Martelly’s medical team.

“I am better now and am in contact with the government team and members of my cabinet so that everything continues to function normally,” Martelly said through a spokesperson. “I continue to work with them for good government.”

Some concerns had arisen with Martelly in Miami and the country still without a Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Designate Laurent Lamothe, who represented Martelly in Cartagena for the Sixth Summit of the Americas, has not had his nomination for the post confirmed by both houses of Parliament.

Martelly, who had shoulder surgery in Miami earlier this month, returned to Miami, after postoperative complications were determined to have been a pulmonary embolism.

“I thank the Haitian people for their support and send a message of peace,” the President said.
